Valentine’s Day: Gift Expectations

Tomorrow is D day and the statement that’s going to be common is “it’s the thought that counts” when everybody is sharing what their special people gifted them with.

A lot of people are pinning their hopes on receiving gifts from their partners, friends, family etc. It’s a day where everyone is pressured into showing and expressing their love towards their loved ones but what kind of gift are you expecting?

What is it that will excite you? Are you going to receive a food hamper and say it’s the thought that counts? Are you going to be taken out for dinner worth US$150 and your heart is full? Or a teddy bear that you will hold on to and cuddle with at night?

Truth of the matter is someone is going to be disappointed tomorrow. My post may sound selfish but let’s be honest with each other, something tangible will do.

I have a friend that received her gift already and she was over the moon because her boyfriend put some thought into it and got her something that she needed badly. Wait for it, a four plate gas stove! Sounds boring because there are no chocolates or flowers but at some point you reach an age where some things just don’t excite you.

Take some time and think of something valuable and not underwhelming. It’s not too late to figure out the perfect gift for your partner. You definitely do not want to wake up feeling slightly cheated.

All the best!

Either way, we want meaningful gifts lol. If I buy you socks, they should come with shoes.
